Contact Lens Exams
A contact lens exam can be done in addition to your comprehensive eye exam to determine your ability to wear contact lenses. During the exam, the optometrist measures your eye surface and determines how well your eye muscles function. You may be asked to try on contact lenses to evaluate their comfort and fit and will likely spend some time discussing any special needs or health conditions that could affect your contact lens prescription. When your contact lenses are ready for pickup, a fitting exam will be scheduled to try out your new lenses and practice insertion and removal.
If you already wear contact lenses, a regular contact lens evaluation is recommended to check your prescription and maintain optimum eye health. It is important to note that your contact lenses prescription is different from your eyeglasses prescription and requires a separate exam.
Eye Care
Many diseases of the eye can be prevented, cured or treated; however, early detection is key. Routine eye exams are the best way to ensure optimum eye health. A comprehensive eye exam is used to both evaluate how well you see and identify eye diseases, such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, that can result in significant vision loss if left untreated.
